Women in Medicine

Although the proportion of women doctors is increasing, women are still underrepresented in higher positions in the medical hierarchy. One reason is the challenges faced by women physicians to balance their medical careers and home life. Despite these challenges, most women physicians love their careers and find ways to make the balance by getting support from family members, working a decreased weekly schedule, being very organized, and working hard to set priorities and appropriate boundaries.
